Win an Anglesey Stick

The Anglesey Stick – made in – you guessed it – Anglesey, North Wales
As you’ll have read in our Greenland Paddles article:

‘The Anglesey stick is carved from a single piece of Western Red Cedar (WRC). Western Red Cedar is a very popular timber used in GP making due to its high strength to weight ratio, being especially popular in the USA and Canada where it is more readily available than in the UK. This paddle is not varnished, but finished in Tung oil, which gives it a nice warm and sure grip even when wet.

The blades are not flat – they have a slightly convex and symmetrical shape so either side can be used as the drive face – just take a hold and start paddling. The loom is rectangular with a distinct transition to the blade that is thicker and wider than the other two paddles. This is a substantial paddle. With rounded blade edges this is a quiet paddle to use and in “cruising” mode is very easy to settle into.

The paddle, being made of WRC, feels soft to the touch with the grain running straight along its length with no knots to be seen – clearly the timber has been carefully selected and fashioned by the carver to offer maximum strength whilst retaining some flexibility. ’

We liked it, a lot and although it’s going to hurt to do so, we have to give the review paddle away to one lucky OP reader!

How to enter…

Answer this simple question using the form below:

The Anglesey Stick web site (www.angleseystick.com) states that ‘The natural buoyancy of the Anglesey stick and its inline blades enables easier orientation underwater, making rolling and --------------- much easier.’

What’s the missing word?

Use the entry form below to email your answer.

One correct winning entry will be chosen on the 1st February (closing date 31st January) and the winner contacted soon after.

Good luck!
